The antibiotic tinidazole is used to treat certain types of vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. Various parasitic infections can also be treated with it, such as giardiasis and amebiasis. The drug prevents the growth of bacteria and parasites.
TINIDAZOLE works by interfering with the DNA in bacterial and protozoal cells. DNA is damaged as well as the ability of bacteria and protozoa to form new DNA is impeded. In the end, tinidazole kills the microorganisms, and this cures the infection.

Treatments for protozoal infections with tinidazole include trichomoniasis, giardiasis, and amebiasis. Adult women can also use this medication to treat vaginal infections. Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal.
How to use:
Tinidazole comes in two forms: a liquid (suspension) made by the pharmacist and a tablet. As a single dose or once daily for 2 to 5 days, it is usually taken with food. Take tinidazole around the same time every day if you are taking it for more than one day.
Side effects:
Side effects of tinidazole may occur. In case of severe or persistent symptoms, you should tell your doctor:
Nausea
Loss of appetite
Sharp, unpleasant metallic taste
Upset stomach
Vomiting
Constipation
Stomach pain or cramps
headache
Warnings and precautions while using this product
If you have taken the drug Antabuse® within the past two weeks, do not take this medicine. As well, refrain from drinking alcohol and alcohol-containing products (eg, propylene glycol) when taking this medication and for at least 3 days after your last dose. Your cancer risk may be increased by this medication.
