How does it work:

Ibuprofen is an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that blocks the production of certain natural substances in the body, mainly those which cause inflammation. Fever, swelling, or pain can be decreased as a result of this effect.

Ibuprofen for adults

There are many aches and pains that can be treated with ibuprofen, including back pain, period pain, toothache, and arthritis pain. Inflammations like strains and sprains, as well as pain associated with arthritis, can be treated with this medicine. It can be availed in the form of tablet, capsule and syrup.

How to use:

Food is recommended when taking ibuprofen. The effect of this will be to prevent your stomach from experiencing such side effects as indigestion. To take ibuprofen modified-release, swallow the capsule or tablet whole, with a glass of water. The tablets should not be crushed or broken.

Dosage of usage:

For minor pains of arthritis:

  • Initial dose: 200 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours; oral administration of 400 mg every four to six hours may be increased as needed
  • Maximum dose: 1200 mg/day (over the counter)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis (including flare-ups of chronic disease): 1200 to 3200 mg orally per day in divided of 3 or 4 
  • -Individualize dose; adjust dose up or down based on the severity of symptoms
  • Maximum dose: 3200 mg/day (prescription strength)

Side effects:

Ibuprofen affects prostaglandin production in your body. Changes in the amount of body fluid can affect your body pressure, which can impair kidney function and raise blood pressure. Low kidney function can lead to high blood pressure.

Warnings and precautions while using this product 

If you have a history of hypersensitivity (hypersensitivity) to aspirin or other NSAIDs, you shouldn't use ibuprofen.
